The History of Our Church
IN APRIL OF 1986, Christian Community Church was organized by Rudolph White, Jr. Our church was a missions church of Southway Baptist church under the Union Baptist Association. We were organized under the auspices of the Southway Baptist Church, but were not sponsored by them or any other church. We functioned as an independent entity. The first worship was held on April 6, 1986 at 7:00 that Sunday morning.
IN APRIL OF 1987, we were organized with the goal to minister to the Missouri City community; but no church location could be obtained in the area at the time. Until a location could be found in the Missouri City area the church operated from a storefront on South Braeswood.
IN NOVEMBER OF 1990, Christian Bible Church moved to Hunter’s Glen Elementary School in Missouri City area and purchased Six acres of land.
IN FEBRUARY OF 1994, phase one was completed and a 15,000 square foot facility was erected. The church had a 15 year mortgage on this new facility but with the vision of Pastor White and support of the members the mortgage was retired by the seventh year.
IN APRIL OF 2001, Christian Bible Church purchased 22 acres of land in the Missouri City area in preparation to move and build a new facility to accommodate the much needed classroom space. There is a United We Build Campaign that the people are very committed to that has been ongoing for the past three years in which the members have pledged monies towards the land and the new building project to start before the year is out!
IN APRIL OF 2008, Christian Bible Church sold their first church building and has temporarily moved into a smaller building which they also own that backs up to the 22 acres of property which they will be breaking ground on in the Summer of 2009.
The vision is being fulfilled as preparation is taking place to break ground on 10 of the 22 acres with the remainder to be used as commercial property. The new facility will be 35,000 square feet which will include executive offices, 27 classrooms to be shared among the adults, teens and children, a bookstore, full size gymnasium, playscape and coffee shop.
